What Is the Gift of Serving?
You are the body of Christ, and
each one of you is a part of it. 1 Corinthians 12:27
Trisha likes to help. Without being asked, she runs to help her
mother bring in the groceries from the car. At school, she helps
the teacher put away books. At church, she picks up the papers left
in the benches and throws them away. Trisha has trusted in the Lord
Jesus Christ as her Savior. The Holy Spirit has given her the spiritual
gift of serving.
Serving is one of the spiritual gifts the Holy Spirit gives God's
children. Spiritual gifts are used to help others who are in the
Body of Christ. Serving is the ability to see jobs that need to
be done and to do them. People with the gift of serving help in
a way that frees others to use their own gift for the Lord.
Do you like to help others? When you see a need, do you often help
without being asked? If you have answered "yes", you may
have the gift of serving. The Bible says, "Serve wholeheartedly
[willingly], as if you were serving the Lord, not men" (Ephesians
6:7). If you have the gift of serving, will you use it to help others
in the Body of Christ?
